Partner with Ocean Rising

Attention is abundant. Credibility is not.

Ocean Rising is an independent publication covering the politics, science, economics and human decisions shaping the future of the ocean. It exists because ocean governance failures deserve the same quality of journalism applied to financial markets, public health and national security.

The publication reaches professionals working across conservation, government, research, finance, journalism and ocean innovation in more than 80 countries. These are not casual readers. They are people whose work involves ocean policy, investment, science and strategy.

Partnership supports this journalism directly. It keeps investigations publicly accessible and the publication independent.

How Partnership Works

Partners are acknowledged within Ocean Rising editions, reaching both free and paid subscribers. This is what it looks like in practice:

This edition of Ocean Rising is supported by [Partner Name], [one-line description]. Their support helps keep independent ocean journalism publicly accessible. [Link]

That acknowledgement appears at the top of the edition, before the reporting begins. It is clearly labelled as partnership support, not editorial content.

Ocean Rising does not publish advertorial, sponsored analysis or branded content. Partners support the publication. They do not direct it.

Partnership Options

Founding Partner

£5,000 per year | One position only

The Founding Partner provides anchor support for Ocean Rising’s independent reporting.

This partnership includes a private annual briefing on emerging ocean governance trends, regulatory developments and policy trajectories drawn from Ocean Rising’s reporting and source network. The briefing is the core of this partnership: direct access to analysis that does not appear in the public newsletter.

The Founding Partner is also acknowledged across twelve editions annually, with visibility across the full readership, and included in the annual Ocean Rising Impact Review.

This is designed for one organisation that values sustained association with independent ocean intelligence and wants direct access to the analysis behind it.

Edition Sponsor

£500 per edition | One sponsor per edition

Edition Sponsors support the publication of individual Ocean Rising editions.

Each sponsorship includes acknowledgement at the top of the edition, a short organisational description, a direct link, and visibility across all subscribers. Edition promotion on LinkedIn extends reach to the broader professional network.

Six-edition package: £2,500 (saving £500). Available for organisations wanting sustained visibility across multiple editions, with scheduling flexibility throughout the year.

Edition Sponsorship is the fastest way to reach Ocean Rising’s audience with a specific message: a report launch, programme recruitment, event promotion, or organisational positioning.

Editorial Independence

Ocean Rising investigates institutions, governments and corporations. That work cannot be compromised.

Partners have no editorial influence. Sponsorship does not imply endorsement of a partner’s work, and Ocean Rising’s reporting remains fully independent of partnership relationships.

If a partner organisation becomes the subject of Ocean Rising reporting, the partnership does not affect editorial decisions. Partners are informed as a courtesy, not consulted for approval.

Partnerships are limited to organisations whose work is broadly aligned with transparency, sustainability and responsible ocean stewardship. Ocean Rising reserves the right to decline or discontinue any partnership.

Why Organisations Partner with Ocean Rising

Ocean Rising reaches people who shape ocean policy, allocate conservation funding, make investment decisions and set research priorities. Partnership places an organisation within a trusted professional conversation rather than interrupting attention through conventional advertising.

For many partners, the value is association: being seen alongside rigorous, independent journalism signals seriousness about ocean stewardship in a landscape crowded with greenwash and good intentions.

Ocean Rising is seven months old. It has grown to 4,300+ subscribers across 80+ countries, ranks among the top 10 climate and environment publications on Substack, and is building a reputation for accountability journalism that names names and shows evidence. This is early. Partners who join now are building the foundation of something with significant trajectory.
